Federated States of Micronesia President David W Panuelo conveyed his congratulations and wishes for success to the new Israeli Prime Minister Naftali Bennet after his swearing in last weekend.
“Our people and Government offer you our sincerest wishes for your success, as well as my assurance that our nation will support you and the people of Israel as you assume the heavy responsibilities that accompany leadership,” President Panuelo said.
President Panuelo said the two nations had a particularly enduring friendship based on shared values and ideals.
“Your commitments to peace, unity, and liberty are noble, and your successful practice of democracy and democratic principles is truly commendable,” he said.
Mr Bennet takes over from Benjamin Netanyahu who had been the premier of the Middle Eastern state for 12 years of a long and divisive reign.
Israel’s Parliament, the Knesset, approved the new government by just a single vote — 60 to 59, with one abstention.
President Panuelo acknowledged the two nations long standing friendship.
“We recognize, and deeply appreciate, that Israel was the first non-Pacific country to extend diplomatic recognition of our sovereign Nation,” he said.
